Sunday reading: Augmented reality, geotagging and Google

Here’s your weekly round-up of some of the stuff I’ve been reading this week. And folks, do have a good Christmas too!

Andy Dickinson blogs on, well, a shift away from blogs for journalists. Is social media just so much more relevant now?

Copy, past, forget – simple and quick augmented reality and geotagging for your website is an interesting read on the Talk About Local webiste. They’re doing some interesting stuff – geotagging, TAL founder Will Perrin told me the other day, could well be the big thing for 2013. Google at present ignores the geotags of independent content that would locate it precisely for augmented reality and mobile search. Could Google an important shift?

Martin Belam blogs very honestly on the rise and fail of the Guardian’s Facebook app.

Journalism.co.uk has a very useful guide to 14 visual storytelling tools for journalists and bloggers. Timetoast, Dipity and other exciting goodies are on offer – it’s just like Christmas Day!
